National Board Certified Teachers (NBCT) in ɬÀï·¬ Must Update Their Directory Information by January 31, 2022.

The Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) allows eligible classroom teachers with a National Board certificate to earn a Recognized designation and generate allotment funds for their employing local educational agency (LEA).

LEAs should identify all teachers with an active National Board certificate and verify that theÌýÌýis up to date. NBCTs who have moved to ɬÀï·¬ from out of state must update their directory listing to reflect ɬÀï·¬ employment by January 31, 2022. The ɬÀï·¬ Education Agency (TEA) encourages campus administrators to inquire if any teaching staff hold an active National Board certificate and ensure their directory listing is updated.

To be eligible for designation, NBCTs must:

  • have an updatedÌýÌýreflecting their employment as a ɬÀï·¬ teacher
  • hold an active certificate issued by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards
  • be employed as a teacher by a ɬÀï·¬ school district or charter school

be reported as a teacher (087 Role ID) in theÌý

To generate an annual allotment for their employing LEA, the designated NBCT must be employed and compensated for a creditable year of service in a 087 teaching role (defined as 50% or more of the day for 180 days or 100% of the day for 90 days).

Designations for newly certified NBCTs will be awarded in April 2022 and will be retroactive to the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year. The teacher’s designation will expire at the end of the school year following the expiration of their National Board certificate. For example, if the National Board certificate expires on 11/30/2021, the Recognized designation will remain active until 07/31/2022.

NBCTs who are employed in a teaching position must be reported in the Class Roster Winter Submission. ɬÀï·¬will host a training on February 17, 2022, for LEAs employing one or more National Board Certified Teachers who meet the eligibility criteria above.Ìý

LEAs may also request reimbursement of eligible fees paid to the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards for NBCTs who certified or renewed in 2019 or later. The annual application window runs from January 3, 2022, through March 31, 2022. For more information regarding fee reimbursement, please visitÌý
